Legal Fees
The First Appointment
If the meeting is for a consultation, a fee of €90 excluding VAT, i.e. €108 including VAT, will be charged.
What happens next?
From the very first appointment, you will be fully informed – in complete transparency – about how legal fees are determined.
Lawyers’ fees are freely set, but are assessed based on specific criteria, such as:
- The complexity of the case
- The stakes involved
- The time required
- The nature of the legal services provided
Based on these elements, a fee agreement will be drawn up with the client’s consent. This agreement may include a fixed fee, time-based billing, and possibly a success-based fee.
Fixed Fee
The fee is agreed upon in advance and covers all services within the defined scope.
Hourly Rate
The lawyer may charge based on the actual time spent on the case, as outlined in the fee agreement.
Success Fee
This fee can only be applied in addition to a base fee (fixed or time-based).
It corresponds to a percentage of the amount recovered or saved for the client.
A written fee agreement will therefore be established, setting out the services to be provided and the scope of the lawyer’s mission.
Fees may be paid in advance as retainers, and final billing is carried out at the end of the mandate.
An initial retainer may be requested following the first appointment to allow the lawyer to open the file and begin the first legal steps.
In case of financial difficulty, payment by instalments may be accepted, subject to a limited number of monthly payments.
Legal Expenses Insurance
If you have legal protection insurance, part or all of your legal fees may be covered for certain disputes.
Clients are encouraged to check with their insurance provider.
The insurer cannot impose the use of a lawyer from their network.
You are free to choose your lawyer.
